Thailand 2015 (2/4) : Chiang Mai

[Nov 5 – 10, 2015] This is the continuation of my previous post – Thailand 2015 (1/4): Bangkok.

Let’s begin Day 2 – CHIANG MAI!

From Bangkok – Don Mueang Airport, we had our plane booked to Chiang Mai International Airport at 12:25 PM. We had our breakfast from a street food vendor selling egg pancakes nearby the hotel. If you have been following me for a while now, you might notice how I’m an avid fan of street food! This pancake costs only 35 Baht!

We had lunch at the airport while waiting for our flight to board. We ate at McDonald’s since I want to compare their menu in every country I’ve been to. Best thing with Thailand – they serve Salmon Burger and Spinach Pie! I’m so envious! Everything is pricey though.

Upon arrival at Chiang Mai, we had a 150 Baht fixed taxi rate to bring us to the hotel. Compared with Bangkok, I just love the slow-paced and artistic vibe of Chiang Mai. Also fell in love with our guesthouse, Chana Placewhich we booked at Agoda at a discounted rate.

Same with Bangkok, we’ve maximized the afternoon by visiting only 1 temple – Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, located at the Doi Suthep mountain. Travel time from our hotel to the temple is at 45 minutes – 1 hour. We’ve rented a red multi-cab for 500 Baht roundtrip.

Entrance to the temple is at 30 Baht only. I was able to capture better photos because of the clear skies. Yay!

Also tried the Kau Cim, a fortune-telling practice that originated in China. One should kneel, pray and basically shake the cylinder with numbered sticks. The first stick to fall will be your fortune / answer. Mine was below:

Before leaving the mountain, got myself some fresh strawberries for only 20 Baht a cup! I can live here!

We went back to the main city and had our dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Same with Bangkok, Day 2 was a success. Next blog entry will be my favorite — Chiang Rai!

I guess, that’s it for now.

<3 always, Irene
